Why we need organic certification.
  Organic Certification

What is organic certification?

Currently in Japan, most cotton is imported.
Moreover, cotton products make up the largest share of the textiles we put on our bodies. Organic cotton products can be found in an increasing number of stores.
However, the fact is that we cannot tell if the cotton used in finished products has been grown with pesticides and chemical fertilizers or not because only very small amounts of the chemicals will remain from the raw cotton to the finished product.
It is very difficult to prove if something is organic or not, even by sophisticated scientific testing.

When you are buying something how can you know if it truly organic or not?
You cannot tell by the appearance or by touch. That is why you need organic certification.
In order to certify organic cotton, a specialized organization inspects the fields to make sure the cotton is being grown organically without using any pesticides for more than 3 years, and issues an approval certification for each crop.
Then, more inspection is required during processing to check if the original organic cotton is really being used in the finished goods, and if the organic raw cotton is being processed in a way as not to damage the environment or the human body.

All Avanti products are approved by the non-profit Japan Organic Cotton Association(JOCA). First, JOCA checks if the product uses the raw material that is certified by other certification bodies.
On top of that, JOCA has their own standards covering the processing of raw materials to certify yarns, fabrics, and finished goods.

We make our products to meet the strict standards of JOCA.
As a result, our yarns, fabrics, and finished goods are highly evaluated as being safe and of high quality.
